Most specialists speak to one side of a person. Here, the outer decision and the inner life can remain in the same room.

Capital, investment and strategy are normally discussed with one kind of specialist; meditation, lucid dreaming, non-duality and Advaita Vedanta with another. These worlds rarely speak to one another — and almost never inhabit the same person. At sea, time, silence and trust make room for a different depth: a question about risk or succession may reveal a question about identity; an inquiry into mind or consciousness may return to the practical decision still to be made. The value lies in holding both without reducing either.

The role

Part of the natural rhythm onboard. Never the centre of it.

Gianpaolo joins the ordinary life of the voyage, sharing meals and common moments when appropriate, and remaining quietly in the background when not required.

There are no compulsory sessions, lectures or staged conversations. A dialogue may begin on deck, after dinner or during a quiet watch — always at the guest's initiative.

The boundaries

A guest specialist — never crew, entertainment or a prescribed programme.

The role remains secondary to the guests' experience and subject at all times to the Principal's preferences, the Captain's authority, guest privacy and operational requirements. It is not psychotherapy or clinical care, and no worldview or contemplative path is imposed. Contemplative dialogue and teaching become available only when a guest explicitly asks for them. Confidentiality, screening, NDA, medical and security requirements are agreed before embarkation.

Strategic consultant, Wealth Advisor for Banca Generali, author, teacher, philanthropist and president of a global humanitarian and educational initiative. Gianpaolo works across investments, strategy, human dynamics, uncertainty, capital and the psychology of consequential decisions.

Capital and strategy are usually entrusted to advisers trained in those fields. Contemplative disciplines are usually entrusted to entirely different people. Gianpaolo has spent years in both. His inner work spans meditation, lucid dreaming, awakening, non-duality, Advaita Vedanta, non-ordinary states of consciousness and the symbolic, initiatory and ritual dimensions of Western esoteric traditions. It is grounded in direct practice; books and courses of his own; sustained writing and teaching; and contact and collaboration with living teachers, authors and practitioners. This is not a decorative interest attached to an advisory career, but a second, deeply lived field of competence.

The value onboard is not range for its own sake. It is the ability to recognise when a financial or strategic question is also a question of fear, identity, power, mortality, meaning or freedom — and to remain rigorous in both dimensions.
